Head Coach Jonathan Hicks (Fall 2010 - current)

Mike Green pictureJonathan Hicks is the head coach of the Loudoun 96 and 92 Boys soccer teams for Loudoun Soccer.  The teams play in the National Capital Soccer League division-2 and division-1 respectively.  Coach Jon also runs the American Youth Soccer Academy, conducting camps in Virginia and North Carolina for hundreds of players during the summer months.

Coach Hicks is also recognized for entering his 9th season with the Broad Run High School boys varsity soccer team, the Spartans.  He began with Broad Run as assistant coach in 2002-2003 afterwhich he became the head coach.  Jon led the Spartans as District champions (2002-04, 2009-10), regional champions (2010), and three state semi-finals (2003, 2009-10).  Jon earned the honor of Dulles District Coach and Region II Regional Coach of the Year for both 2009 and 2010.  In 2010, Coach Jon was further named as Loudoun All Extra's Loudoun Coach of the Year.

Coach Hicks played collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.  A few years after moving to Virginia, in August 2009 Jon married his wife Laura, who teaches in the Science Department also at Broad Run High School, and who is an avid supporter of all of Coach Hicks' soccer games.  Jon comes from a soccer family - his mother Debbie, coaching at Dixon Middle School in Snead's Ferry, NC; his father Kevin, head coach at Dixon High School and Dixon Middle School; his brother Paul, girl's and boy's head coach at Ronald Reagan High School in Winston-Salem, NC.  Jon holds the NSCAA National Diploma.

Former Coach Michael Green (Spring 2006 - Spring 2010)

Mike Green pictureMichael Green served as the head coach of the Loudoun Soccer '96 Red from Spring 2006 through Spring 2010. A native of Columbia, MD, Michael played collegiate soccer at the University of Virginia where he was a three-year starter and played for the Cavaliers in their 1997 NCAA Championship game vs. UCLA.  Green began his professional soccer career in 1999, signing with Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards. He spent three years with the Wizards, including the 2000 season when the Wizards won the MLS Cup. Michael was a member of the Pro-40 Select team during this period and in 1999, trained with Bayer Leverkusen of the German Bundesliga.  He then played professionally in the A league for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Charleston Battery. Mike holds the NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and the NSCAA National Youth Diploma.

He lead the team as they navigated back and forth between division-1, division-2 and division-3 of the National Capital Soccer League.  Mike took over as head coach after Steve Lee left Loudoun soccer at the end of the Fall 2005 season; however, he was not new to most of the boys.  Mike provided training for a number of these boys while they were playing in U8 house teams and for some as part of the U8 All-stars teams.

Former Coach Steve Lee (Fall 2005)

Steve Lee pictureSteve Lee served as the first head coach of the Loudoun Soccer '96 Red during their first season in Fall 2005 under the name of Loudoun Academy Red.  Like Mike, Steve was already familiar with the boys having worked with a number of them while on U8 house teams and for some as part of the U8 All-stars.

Steve Lee had recently joined the Loudoun team providing training for young players of all ages as part of Darryl Gee Soccer Academy.  Originally from England, Steve grew up playing in the English YTS program before going on to play at the Collegiate level for Teeside University in Middlesbrough, UK.  While at Teesside studying for his BSC in Sport Science, he also spent time at the Premier League team Middlesbrough Football club with their Sport Science department and youth academy.
